Norman Love has spent more than two decades demonstrating that chocolate can be as visually expressive as it is flavourful. From Fort Myers, Florida, he has developed a distinctive style built around colourful bonbons, carefully composed flavours and the precision of a pastry chef.
Together with his wife, Mary, Love founded Norman Love Confections in 2001 after a 13-year career as an executive pastry chef with The Ritz-Carlton. What began as a business intended primarily to supply restaurants soon found a much wider audience, leading to the opening of the company’s first chocolate salon in Fort Myers.
Love’s pastry background remains central to his approach. Rather than treating chocolate solely as confectionery, his creations bring together flavour, texture, colour and presentation.
The company’s chocolates are still handmade in Southwest Florida, where its team works with Love to produce the collections. Ingredients include premium chocolate, fresh dairy, fruits and flavour extracts sourced for quality.
That emphasis on ingredients is paired with meticulous presentation, creating chocolates designed to make an immediate visual impression.
Norman Love Confections is particularly recognisable for its brightly decorated bonbons. Glossy finishes, saturated colours and carefully applied patterns turn individual pieces into miniature edible canvases.
Yet appearance is only part of the equation. Love’s signature collection currently spans 25 flavours, moving between fruit, caramel, nuts, familiar desserts and more adventurous combinations.
Flavours such as Tiramisu, White Chocolate Raspberry and Mexican Hot Chocolate illustrate the range. Other chocolates incorporate mango, strawberry and Florida orange, bringing fresh and familiar ingredients into polished contemporary confections.
Florida remains firmly connected to the Norman Love story. The company continues to make its chocolates in Southwest Florida and now operates chocolate and dessert salons in Fort Myers, Naples, Estero, Sarasota, Delray Beach and Boca Raton.
Its range has also expanded considerably beyond boxed bonbons. Chocolate bars, barks, macarons, pastries, gelato and other confections have broadened the business while keeping chocolate craftsmanship at its centre.
In 2026, Norman Love Confections marks 25 years since its founding. During that time, a Fort Myers chocolate business has grown into a recognised Florida brand while maintaining its focus on handcrafted production.
Love’s work also represents an important chapter in contemporary American chocolate. His use of vivid colour helped make the exterior of the bonbon part of the creative experience, while his pastry background reinforced the importance of flavour and technique inside.
Twenty-five years after Norman and Mary Love established the company, those ideas remain visible in every colourful collection produced in Southwest Florida.
