Chocolate, Creativity and Culture Take Over Perugia
Eurochocolate returns to Perugia from November 13–22, 2026, transforming the historic centre of the Umbrian capital into a ten-day celebration of cocoa, chocolate and pastry. Now in its 32nd edition, the International Chocolate Festival brings together chocolate producers, culinary experiences, entertainment and activities for visitors of all ages.
The 2026 edition carries the playful theme “Fate Dolci,” inviting visitors not only to taste and purchase chocolate but also to create, experiment and explore the world of chocolate and pastry. Festival activities will spread throughout central Perugia, combining the established Chocolate Show with demonstrations, family experiences, performances and educational programming.
Perugia’s relationship with chocolate runs deep. Known as the home of Baci Perugina, Italy’s iconic chocolate pralines, the city boasts a rich heritage in confectionery craftsmanship. Eurochocolate, first launched in 1994, celebrates this legacy while also shining a spotlight on global chocolate traditions. For 10 glorious days, Perugia’s cobblestone streets, piazzas, and historic buildings are filled with the intoxicating aroma of cocoa, creating an atmosphere that is as immersive as it is delicious.
Chocolate Show Returns to the Historic Centre
The Chocolate Show remains one of Eurochocolate’s central attractions, bringing national and international chocolate producers into Perugia’s historic centre. Visitors can discover products, meet participating businesses and explore different expressions of cocoa and chocolate throughout the ten-day festival.
Eurochocolate World will also return, adding an international perspective to the programme while connecting visitors with chocolate cultures and producers beyond Italy.
“Fate Dolci” Puts Visitors in the Kitchen
The Fate Dolci theme expands Eurochocolate’s focus from eating chocolate to making with it. In Piazza Matteotti, the dedicated Spazio Fate Dolci will showcase chocolate and pastry products, including preparations for cookies, muffins and plumcake.
Nearby, Fate Lab will provide a hands-on educational space designed particularly for children and families, allowing visitors to create selected themed products during the festival.
Chocolate, Pastry and Live Entertainment
The 2026 programme will combine chocolate with pastry and entertainment throughout Perugia. Master pastry chef Nicola Antonacci is among the professionals scheduled for show cooking, while performances across the historic centre will include Choco Buskers, Chocoparade, Chocolieri, music and aerial performances inspired by the year’s fairy-themed campaign.
Together, these activities turn the city itself into part of the festival rather than concentrating the experience inside a single exhibition venue.
Calabria Takes the Spotlight
Eurochocolate is also introducing a new Guest Region initiative in 2026, with Calabria becoming its first featured Italian region. The programme will showcase regional products that pair naturally with chocolate, including bergamot, citron, chilli peppers, figs and selected wines.
The initiative expands the festival beyond chocolate alone, exploring how cacao can interact with distinctive regional flavours and Italian food traditions.
Cocoa, Chocolate and Health
Eurochocolate will also host the fifth edition of the Cocoa, Chocolate and Health Conference on November 16. Promoted by The Chocolate Way and organised by the International Society of Cocoa, Chocolate and Medicine, the event examines scientific and clinical research surrounding cocoa and chocolate in medicine, nutrition and health.
Another international conference, scheduled for November 19, will examine the “decolonisation” of cocoa and relationships between cocoa-producing countries and consumer markets. Ivorian cocoa producer Assata Dumbia, founder of the ECAM cooperative, is among the participants announced for the discussion.
Visit Perugia’s Città del Cioccolato
Part of what makes Eurochocolate so unique is its setting. Perugia’s ancient architecture, narrow alleys, and sweeping views of the Umbrian countryside provide a picturesque backdrop for the festivities. Visitors can explore the city’s rich cultural heritage, including landmarks like the Rocca Paolina fortress and Fontana Maggiore, while indulging in chocolate treats.
For those looking to extend their stay, the Umbria region offers a wealth of experiences. From wine tastings in nearby vineyards to exploring medieval towns like Assisi and Spello, the area is a haven for food, culture, and nature enthusiasts.
Eurochocolate visitors can also explore Città del Cioccolato, an experiential museum dedicated to cacao and chocolate in Perugia’s former covered market. The attraction covers more than 2,800 square metres and explores chocolate through educational and interactive experiences.
Special admission offers are planned for Eurochocolate visitors who make purchases at the Chocolate Show.
