A Weekend of Chocolate in the Heart of Slovenia

Chocolate takes over the historic Slovenian town of Radovljica when the Radovljica Chocolate Festival returns April 17–18, 2027. Held across several locations in the old town centre, the two-day celebration brings together chocolate makers from Slovenia and abroad alongside tastings, entertainment, workshops and family activities.

First held in 2012 as a small event promoting local chocolate makers, the festival has grown into what organisers describe as Slovenia’s largest chocolate event. Thousands of visitors now travel to Radovljica to meet chocolate makers, discover new flavours and enjoy one of the country’s established culinary festivals.

Meet Slovenian and International Chocolate Makers

The festival brings together chocolate makers from across Slovenia as well as producers from abroad. Visitors can explore pralines, chocolate bars, desserts and other chocolate creations, while meeting some of the people responsible for making them.

Tastings operate through the festival’s dedicated card system, allowing visitors to sample different creations as they move between participating exhibitors.

The Search for the Festival’s Best Praline

Participating chocolatiers can enter their creations in the festival’s Best Praline of the Festival competition. A professional jury selects the winners before the festival, and visitors then have an opportunity to taste the recognised pralines during the weekend.

Chocolate, Concerts and Family Activities

The festival extends beyond tasting. Organisers are promoting a programme of concerts, animations, creative workshops, physical challenges and other entertainment taking place at different venues throughout Radovljica.

The varied programme is designed for different generations, making the festival as much a community celebration as a showcase for chocolate.

Exploring Radovljica Between Tastings

Radovljica’s historic old town provides a distinctive setting for the festival. Located near the Julian Alps, the town combines preserved architecture with surrounding countryside, giving travellers an opportunity to turn the festival into a wider Slovenian getaway.

Railway and bus stations are also located close to the festival area, and organisers encourage visitors to consider public transportation.

2027 Tickets and Festival Card

Daily admission is €6, while visitors under 18 receive free admission, subject to the organiser’s conditions. Tickets and festival cards will be available at the venue.

The Festival Card is the only payment method used within the festival. Visitors purchase the card and add credit at the entrance or designated locations before using it for tastings, shopping and festival experiences.
